Hey ladies, How you all doing? Today I am going to be reviewing my first Color Pop that I purchased in shade Jamm. I always wanted to buy these lippies but never got a chance because one can rarely find them in stores and need to buy it online not forgetting the online retailer’s minimum purchase for free shipping rule. I was basically looking for a really dark shade of lipstick for trial purposes and yes I am a crazy Rihanna fan. Recently I saw her picture on the net with a gorgeous dark lipstick and I was tempted to try a darker shade myself. I decided to go with a cheaper one at first and that’s when I came across these beauties online. The color online looked really different from what it actually looks like and what I really wanted (Epic Fail).Anyways I wasn’t disappointed as such but it definitely wasn’t what I would normally try out. Read on to know more.
Price: – Rs 110 for 4.3ml (I used to see them for Rs 100 before )
Shelf Life:-30 Months.
The product description on the web claims it to be moisturizing enriched with cocoa butter and I cannot agree less. It is indeed a very moisturizing lippie and suitable for dry lips. It would be much better if you apply a lip balm before applying this lippie, not necessary but makes application look more even .Packaging as you see is cute, girly ,simple and very travel friendly. This shade in particular is a darker combination of purple and magenta and slight tints of red and brown. The shade and its name feels like it’s been inspired (Just a thought) by the fruit black plum (Jambul) and it also has a strong fruity fragrance (may be a con for some). The color that showed on my lips is totally different from the color it seems to look like before application. I was expecting to be really dark as the one you see in the picture, but sadly it turned out to be way lighter than expected. Coming to its pigmentation, this lippie is highly pigmented and requires few gentle strokes on your lips as it tends to break easily. It has a very soft composition which is why care needs to be taken. The color and application totally varies from person to person. I always have dry lips hence it appears less glossy. Color is quite opaque and very suitable for pigmented lips. I noticed a patchy application which needed me to swipe it two times for the color to show up properly. The staying power is less i.e. only 3-4 hours. I also notice some staining on my lips left after the lipstick began fading off. The texture and feel is very creamy and smooth and glides on like a dream. Overtime I also noticed it was beginning to melt and became very prone to breakage (good I clicked a picture beforehand-just kidding).
Lip swatch after 4 hours of application :-
- Good pigmentation
- Creamy texture
- Opaque Coverage
- Smooth Application
- Suitable for dry lips
- Ingredients not mentioned anywhere.
- Lesser staying power
- Stains lips
- Sets into fine lines
- Melts easily
- Breaks easily
Do I Recommend Elle 18 Color Pops Lipstick in Jamm?
Yes, I recommend this lipstick if you want to try your hand with darker shades. Otherwise you could totally skip this for better options in the market.
Will I Repurchase This Again?
No, never. I think this one purchase was enough.
Overall, this lipstick is a budget friendly one. Even though this wasn’t a shade I was looking for, I liked it to some extent as I never had a shade like this. If only it had a better staying power, it could have been a better product. You could give it a try if you don’t mind the staying power but I feel that staying power is a very important aspect. It’s not like we buy cosmetics to just click selfies 😛
